How will you keep me motivated?
Our community comprises of matured individuals. Your teacher loves nurturing her students but she can not motivate you all the time. She pays more attention to solving niched problems and just willing to design and deliver tools through Aralin World domain. She built this website to deliver solutions and to express her creativity.
Therefore, please do not wait for external motivation. Return to Step 1: Set your intention and see what matters most.
What best practices will I adapt?
You are resourceful and self-reliant that is why you came to Aralin World. Step up and follow these:
- Use notebooks, the physical ones. It is best to write your vocabulary, phrases, and example sentences on a sheet of paper. As you move your hand into writing, your brain picks it up easily. You want your sub-conscious to work with you, you want your new skill to be a second nature to you.
- Use your Tagalog frequently. Make a mental note or jot down all the things that surround you, in your target language. Those things you see as you open your eyes in the morning, things you see outside, things you see at work or at school.
- Use your Tagalog again. Write as many action words that you do. Things you did yesterday, what you are doing in the present time, and things that you plan for the next day.
- Each week, read your notes aloud. Read them aloud repeatedly and try to say them with correct pronunciation. Record what you say, record yourself in audio or video.
- Leave a comment on each and every posted tutorials here at Aralin World.
- Find a language partner. Best if your partner is a native speaker. Establish a question and answer game.
How difficult or easy is Tagalog?
As you build your Tagalog vocabulary you would realize that you need more than that. You are conscious of your pronunciation. You do not know how to produce the glottal stop. There are words with one spelling but not just one meaning. You try to translate using a dictionary or a software but it does not work for you, and for the people you wish to speak with. You ended up:
- Confused and lost.
- Afraid to speak.
- Undecided to learn more.
Tagalog language is not easy especially if you are coming from the Western culture.
What if I'm almost giving up?
Do not stop! Find a teacher that fits you. A teacher who would walk you through these challenges or find a space where you will achieve these learning outcomes:
- To construct simple sentence with correct format.
- To distinguish between actor focused and object focused verbs.
- To conjugate the verbs and use them in proper tenses.
- To understand the verb-pronoun agreements and apply them in your daily conversation.
- To use particles correctly.
